Last week saw BSKL's first ever Science Day! We started off with a great show from the Mad Science gang who amazed us with Carbon dioxide gas and old fashion smoke machines. It was great to see the children volunteering themselves so willingly for Science! There were many different activities happening in all the classrooms and the children spent the morning rotating amongst the rooms performing and watching different experiments - some of which were clean and some of which were dirty! Mr Kirkham's cornflour liquid mix had all sorts of reactions from the children. Sometimes it was hard like a solid and sometimes runny like a liquid! Many children came out with more liquid on them than in their containers! Nicholas (Year 4/5) was able to balance a ping pong ball on top of a hairdryer - you try it when the hairdryer is turned on! How did he do this? The children in Year one made bubble prints using lots of dishwashing liquid and messy paint and the children in foundation stage did experiments on "Floating and Sinking" and Animals. Overall, it was a very exciting morning and we all need to remember - as Scientists you should always ask "why"? Many thanks to Mad Science for their Show, and to the staff at BSKL who make days like these so much fun! |
