Swimming Gala BSKL Kuala Lumpur 07-05-2010

Our annual swimming Gala was held on May 7th. Events held were Freestyle, Breastroke, Backstroke and Kickboard (25 in total). Students arrived from class in swim attire and were sitted beside the pool in their respective houses.

Marshalls retrieved students and placed them in loading bays as Lifesavers watched attentively in individual lanes. The first event was the 26m Backstroke. The Referee explained the rules and students readied themselves in the water. "Ready, Set, TOOOOOT!!!". Bodies kicked and paddled as the audience cheered. "COME ON!" screamed parents. Timekeepers clicked away on stopwatches. The race was over. Our first Gold Medallist for the day was Christopher Susinksi from Normans. He went on to win 2 more in Breastroke and Freestyle.

The next event category was Breastroke. This was followed by Kickboard for novice swimmers who haven't mastered a stroke. Our final and most exciting event was Freestyle. Students gave full effort in their final attempts to earn as many points for their house. The competition was over. Houses competed in a noodle race for fun as position were determined and points tallied.

A beautiful blue podium emblazoned with the school logo and numbers stood waiting. Mr. Honey-Jones, our Headmaster handed out bronze, silver and gold medals as names were called out. Students stood proudly on the platform amidst loud applause from their peers. The overall Champion with highest points earned was Romans. House captains, Mao and Eunice came up with big grins on their faces to receive the trophy. "HOORAY!!!"

It was a memorable morning. Good weather, great atmosphere and full participation from pupils.
