More Information:Primary Instrumental Programme (PIP) has been a fabulous explosion of excitement and fun from the moment the instruments landed and came out of their cases. Every child from Year 1 to 7 is learning a musical instrument. The eager enthusiasm from our students to experiment, negotiate, choose and cultivate interest with their chosen instrument was both stimulating and rewarding, for all those supporting … and performing, in this space. |
![]() Whilst YR’s 2-4 explore the sonority of string orchestral instruments (violins, violas and cellos) YR’s 5-6 rumble their way between the brass and woodwind departments, these being trumpets, tenor horns, baritones, euphoniums, trombones, saxophones, clarinets and flutes |
![]() As you can imagine, the sound of all this huffing and puffing, bowing and plucking is momentarily, raw in dynamic – but those traffic sounds you hear buzzing around the corridors are the inspired beginnings of orchestras, wind bands, brass bands, jazz and blues ensembles. We move on into the foreground of rhythm, harmony and melody, working with each other to develop a sound unique to the spirit of our students; everybody puts their trends into the pot, gives it a good stir and tastes the aroma of the music cooking in their ears. |
