12 things for Christmas Appeal BSKL Kuala Lumpur 23-11-2011
12 things for Christmas Appeal

Currently the Events and Fundraising Committee (EFC) is running a ’12 things for Christmas’ appeal until 1st December. The EFC has chosen two out of the Myanmar refugee centers that we currently work with to benefit from this project. The children in these schools, from the Dai and Zomi tribe located in Cheras, are in particularly great need, surviving on only RM1 per child, per day, for their daily meal. Parents who wish to support this appeal can purchase a brown paper bag at RM2 from the appeal desk at the Reception area in the morning and in the afternoon.

Parents need to get their children to decorate the bag to make each one as special and individual as the child who will receive it. Once the bag is completed, parents need to fill the bags with the ’12 Things for Christmas’, which are specially chosen items that are needed for the refugee children and put it under the Christmas tree. There will be a ‘sample’ of each item available to view at the appeal desk.

The Christmas tree, located in the BSKL Reception area, are decorated with coloured tags, with each tag containing the name of a refugee child. BSKL students who wish to share Christmas joy are encouraged to take a tag (or more if they wish) and write a Christmas message to that refugee child and place it in the mailbox located near the Christmas tree in the Reception area.

The EFC hopes through this appeal it will help BSKL students to understand the true meaning of Christmas, and how giving just a little can make such a big difference!
